Welcome to starr words and the Purrrfectly Giftastic Christmas Blog Hop! First off, make sure you head to the Hop's page for the list of participants. Visit these authors' blogs and the chances of filling your stocking with books and gifts increases! And who doesn't like prezzies?
I don't know about you, but October and November seemed to be only a couple of weeks long each. December hasn't proven to be any slower. So, I feel really behind for the holidays this year. But then I look back and realize I've had short stories published in two different collections in these three months.
In Tales From The Mist, my story Dead Lily Blooms, is about one of Death's gatherers, and the vampyre he's required to bring to Death's gates.
Just released Martini Madness, contains the tale Death and the Dryad. Death needed someone--who better than a soulless dryad? So I guess the days passed so quickly because I actually was productive. Sometimes it's a good thing to stop and take account of what you've really accomplished! I think you'll find your list is longer than you thought.
Back to the fun of the season! What might Santa Cat bring you from *lizzie and starr words? A cool stretchy bracelet in your favorite color or one of *lizzie's books in the electronic format of your choice! Leave a comment with your email and the color you love best. You'll get an extra chance in the drawing if you mention how you follow *lizzie--blog, facebook, twitter. Whatever. Goku, my bro's cat, will choose the winners on December 18th.
Happy Holidays!

Harvest--A Great Time for Farmers
Welcome to the Autumn Harvest Blog Hop and starr words!
I spent a few of my youngest years on a farm, and while I was too little to really do much besides getting knocked down by the sheep, being chased by the chickens, climbing on huge piles of hay bales, or getting stuck in the middle of a wheat field in my red rain boots, I remember the time fondly. Well, maybe the getting stuck wasn't such a great thing. I didn't know about suction and how if I simply stepped out of my boots I'd be free. My Grampa saved me though. He was--and will always be--my hero!
So, I guess I'm saying that today, my guys of autumn are farmers.
In the second book of The Double Keltic Triad, autumn isn't a happy time for Iain.
Summer turned to fall, and Iain's visits to the cairn became
less frequent--the small hope he had cherished for so long faded to a dim
reflection of Lara's golden beauty.
After his long hours of toil in the fields, he spent the
shortening evenings in the seclusion of the pleasuance. His mother's gardens
brought small comfort, even though he often felt the cool touch of her
presence.
Iain harvested the last tender medicinal herbs and left the
rest untouched. As he spread the leaves on trays for drying, the low hum of his
mother's voice intruded on his solitude.
Believe.
He tossed a handful of leaves to the ground, kicked at the
small table and knocked the tray to the ground. "I dinna wish to hear that
word."
My son…
"Nay. Yer words dinna help me, Maither. I believed she
would return, an' she has no'. I believed her words." Iain fell to his
knees and covered his face with his hands. "I believed she loved me."
The words were wrenched from his soul--what little soul he had left without
Lara at his side.
You must…
"Nay. Dinna speak to me again of this." He gasped.
"Dinna speak to me again. I willna listen."
The voice fell silent. Inconceivable as it was to him, the
emptiness inside grew. He had chased away both women who loved him. He was
truly alone.
